Theo Fox: Games 52-54 @ Hurricanes A preview to the Blackhawks concluding 3-game set versus the Hurricanes.

Plus, a look at Entwistle and Regula rejoining the taxi squad for the umpteenth time.

I thought about asking Theo if he would guess that Regula would have a better debut performance than Mitchell or Beaudin. That is, if Regula gets a game or two.

I noticed that Regula returned to action several games ago (after the roster shuffling),and adopted a less offensive, more take care of his own end. Pin players to the boards, etc al.

Then I recalled how screwed up the system is in Chicago. I want to say both the players and coaches fault. But if I am a top prospect and I am confused due to the other players poor effort, non effort, confusion (multiple choice, choose one or all three) I would be meeting with the coach. I'd want to take charge and tell my teamattes what to do. I mean my performance is based also upon my teamattes success, and things are royally f*cked up..

So yelling doesn't go too far. Calling the coach out; going over the coach's head: about the last choice and you know that is not a good choice.

Help me understand. Enlighten myself and I am sure many others. Players aren't dumb. They are told, shown , practice Colliton's system. Even in an abbreviated season, there is enough time before and after games, heck between games and in practice to catch on to this system

It's a difficult system because for one reason responsibility goes againt the normal reaction.

OK, others can comment. How about the breakout. We see forwards out of position, forwards up ice. They are supposed to know where to be stationed. I've heard, they are anxious to be up ice. Well some coaches would let you know your mistake and if it continues, you are stapled to the press box. When you go back in, you are reminded your responsibility.

Even star players sit for lengthy stretch during a game. Sometimes they do.

I don't know what is so hard about it. Hey stupid, go here or I am going to crosscheck you, bozo. I am your teamatte and if you don't start doing your job, I am going to ride you.

Tell the captain. Then the coach. Last resort I tell the player. I played to win. Not a hothead, but too much bs and I won't tolerate it. That's just me. I know the higher you go is sports, you cannot react my way. You have to be diplomatic.

So fans just tolerate it, huh. Like bad politics, we don't have much input. Just one small voice.

Please don't go talking politics. I just used it as an example of being frustrated with the other "players" and "coaches" over sometimes self centeredness above team responsibility.

Repeatedly trying stretch passes rarely works..
I know players get stuck with bad choices on break outs. Is a fresh start and more older mature players going to change how they play per responsibility?

So of the 5 goals against The Panthers, which ones were because of the “system”? If I remember correctly, they were all because of a bad defensive play by the player, that in any system would of caused a goal.

Also the Hawks were killed 5x5. If you constantly don’t have the puck, your defense is under duress. Without being a fancy stats guy, it boils down to the other team has better players.

Also, Rick Bowness who has been in the league 50 years says, for most games, the better goaltender wins. Lankinen has reverted to the mean, and the Hawks have struggled.

Let's hope that as the prospects improve, and the team improves, that our goaltender can hold the fort. Good teams with average or fairly good but not top goaltenders, have won Cups. Chris Osgood with Detroit

Could develop this way in Chicago

There is a descent opportunity to draft a Swedish goaltender in round one 2021. Last few years some teams have done just that. Two games back one such goaltender beat us - the first of our back - to - back losses to Florida.

Currently our best goaltender in the future might becomr Commesso. He is a smaller size guy for a netminder - sort of?

Well irregardless of whom is the best player available, I do not think that is 100% the guiding principal in some cases in recent drafts. I believe some teams, for example, wanted a goaltender. But usually best player available is followed.

Never have I gone for the Trifecta in posting

Here is an interesting thought and it is based on what reportedly fell through at last year's Entry Draft.

The trade was to move up. Maybe to tenth overall and select Askarov

Now would Bowman entertain the possibility of such action in the 2021 draft?

Would he want a Crack at another goaltender? Yet the draft is rich and deep in centers and dmen......like most of wiz's player's ratings first twenty are either a dman or center. Five dmen in top fifteen. ....larger # in centers, at least maybe up to #20 overall.

Oh BTW....yes the one goaltender.

Does Bowman want a tough dman. Recall Bowman was set to draft Gruhle after the goaltender grab didn't work out.

Or an offensively gifted dman should Boqvist be as fragile as glass in the seasons ahead.

Another angle: I personally am not real excited about some of the centers might be around our choice. Just thinking, what type game should we want if we could draft the ideal center

Center is our biggest need (cough). Right?!

Best player available?

Does that entail moving up, which makes Bowman happiest to draft.

I don't think we really have any idea what he is thinking right now

But I am curious what would have been renumeration to move up last year? And this year? INQUIRING minds can postulate on this board

Maybe late night early morning not much before Theo would crank out a new blog at 3am Three consecutive at that time....maybe.

What would it take to move up to a very early #1. Might not be possible. But try this: Kubalik and a prospect they would ask for. Might not have to be a really good prospect. Maybe a scout recommends Phillips or Regula. Or Kaiser who is a better prospect

No thank you.

I like each of those players too much.

Just let the chips fall where they may. If the Hawks draft around 12, so be it and take the best player available. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought Wiz recently said something like after the top 2 or 3 prospects the talent levels of 4 to 15 are comparable.

If the Hawks keep losing, you won't have to worry about trading up for a high draft choice. Weekend was perfect, Hawks one point outta 4, showed they don't quit, come back in both, one an OT loss that they were dominating, and one fall one goal short.

We all know the Hawks shortcomings by now, just rotate the kids in, play hard, points do not matter anymore.

Weak goaltending, poor defense, lack of offense, 2nd tier beer league coaching, inept management, non-existent player development...

Actually, when you really, realistically, think about it, the boarders here is pretty much the only section of this organization that keeps this ship sailing.

Believe when I saw that recent Powers article about who will be there for the 'hawks , I thought they were working my list and prospect descriptions, but then Power referred to talkathon so that list they have was it.

There is a lot to like be4ing in a lottery where you still can jump up to #1 or #2 and get a quality kid at #12 0o #13..

Personally loved Sharp with Foley because he has a recent hawk tie and more real connection with the on-ice guys than almost anyone else.

I love the little things he said , how Kane looked hard on his middle zone defensive play, and such.

^This. We have a tough schedule for the remaining of the year, just keep playing hard and hopefully lose in regulation or OT. We are currently sitting on the 12th pick, with a good opportunity to move up a spot(Calgary). Just an FYI, I will continue to root for a win, but we are better off with a loss. Although we need top six talent, I’d love to see them move up(lottery)and get Power or Clarke, then they can trade from strength for a top six winger.

Yea, between the Jimmy C. "spectacle" and not knowing if Foley is 3 sheets to the wind at game time, I've taken to watching the games with the sound off.

I kinda like Olczyk and Sharp but throw Foley in the mix and it just gets down right silly.

Maybe add DeBrincat, that should be able to get us a top ten pick.

Jesper Fast might slot in for CAR, which would likely push Drew Shore out of the lineup.

Svechnikov-Aho-Teravainen has combined for 14 points in 3 games since TT returned from his concussion.

This may be your shortest post ever.

If they could get any fool GM to take Kubalik and ANY of those you mentioned for the overall #1 they would jump at the chance. While I like those players, none are worth turning down the #1 for. You're talking about 2 third round picks and 1 fifth round pick who may turn out to be nice players but so far are still just maybes.

Subban starts tonight for the Blackhawks, Delia backing up.

Suter in for Connolly. Beaudin in for Stillman.

The lineup rotation continues.
